Location:

NGC 6231 is visible to the naked eye and lies half a degree north of ζ Scorpii.



What You Should See:

This often-overlooked cluster is a fine object in 10×50 binoculars. It is small, with a diameter about half that of the Moon, but rich in brighter stars, several of which are resolved in small and medium binoculars.
